Silent Hill is one of the most long-standing survival horror series. Originating from Japan, its iconic characters and terrifying enemies have served as inspirations for many other horror games, and even for movies. The mysterious town, shrouded in mist with a difficult past, known as Silent Hill, has pulled a myriad of characters into its embrace.

With how compelling their stories are, it's no wonder so many fans have shown their love for the series through the art of cosplay. Today, we're sharing 10 of the most amazing cosplays inspired by the universe of Silent Hill, depicting both the heroes and the monsters we've all grown to love from the series.

Updated on February 17th, 2020 by Anastasia Maillot: While the Silent Hill franchise seems to be in limbo since P.T. was released and then scrapped, there are tons of rumors to reignite the interest and hopes of fans. In the coming year, there's a big chance we might hear about a brand new Silent Hill game, and even a Silent Hill movie.

In appreciation and also in hopes of more news on what's coming next for the franchise, we've shared five more incredibly cosplays of well-loved Silent Hill characters. Here's to hoping the fans can expect an iconic return from Konami soon enough.

15 Father Vincent

Originally an antagonist and a supporter of Claudia in her dark religious beliefs, Vincent eventually turns against the main antagonist of Silent Hill 3. He's not the most helpful character, often expecting Heather to do all the dirty work for him, but at least he opposes Claudia.

Vincent hasn't seen much love among cosplayers due to the narrow role that he plays. However, cosplayer Dragoon3060 brought his essence to life with this ominous costume and photoshoot with photographer Swoz.

14 Maria And James

James is on the search for his wife Mary in the story of Silent Hill 2. However, before he can find her, he finds someone who sort of resembles his wife. Maria is actually a hallucination made up by James, a sort of ideal version of his wife condensed into one.

Maria briefly tags along with James as he wanders around Silent Hill. This photo looks just like the two of them traversing the dark streets of the city at night. It's an amazing work from cosplayers Galactic Reptile as James and Soviet Mentality as Maria.

13 Anne And Murphy

If there's one Silent Hill game that needs some serious loving and is grossly underrated, it's Silent Hill Downpour. The game looks amazing, and while it does stray from previous versions with some aspects of the gameplay, it's still a really solid addition to the series.

The main character Murphy is one of the most compelling heroes of the series. Seeing him embodied by cosplayer Gangsterlovin is great, but we also love the addition of officer Anne, portrayed here by cosplayer g0ldfishl0ve.

12 Silent Hill 3 Nurse

No Silent Hill game is complete without the appearance of the monstrous nurse. There are a few different versions of the classic nurse seen in the series, but they all seem to wear a typical tattered dress while crawling down the hallways of a decrepit Silent Hill hospital.

This special version of a nurse from Silent Hill 3 was brought to life by an amazingly talented cosplayer known as ShadeCramer. Their cosplay work is just fantastic, and the after-effects make them look more like stills from the actual game than simple cosplay photos.

11 Maria In The Cell

When it comes to the strangest and most decisive moments in the history of Silent Hill games, it's definitely that haunting scene where James finds Maria sitting inside a cell in the underground maze, after having witnessed her die. The scene is so powerful and strange that it's become a bit of a favorite among fans.

No other cosplayer has been able to deliver the emotion and atmosphere of that scene like Dawnprincess. In her photoshoot with Hidrico, that prison cell scene was made completely real. The lights are really well done here, made to mirror those in the actual scene. It definitely helps that Dawnprincess looks a lot like Maria, too.

10 Alex Shepherd

One of the primary protagonists of the series, Alex makes his appearance in Silent Hill: Homecoming. After his brother and his father have gone missing, leaving his mother extremely ill, he sets out on a quest that takes him not only back to his own hometown but also to Silent Hill.

South African cosplayer Devin from Sliding Doors Cosplay perfectly embodies Alex's essence in his photoshoot. According to his profile, Devin's photoshoot took place in an actual abandoned hospital, which makes the photos even cooler looking. Nice work, Devin, as well as Alan Riedal for taking these photos.

9 Robbie The Rabbit

When you think of Silent Hill, one of the first things that are likely to come to your mind is that terrifying rabbit found in Silent Hill 3, known simply as Robbie the Rabbit. Due to his eerily innocent yet terrifying appearance at Lakeside Amusement Park, he's made a number of appearance in later installments of the franchise as well.

Cosplayer Avianna from ACParadise must have fallen in love with Robbie's creepy yet cute appearance. As a result, she created a spin-off cosplay of him, a sort of cuter and girlier version of Robbie. Either way, the results are frighteningly adorable!

8 Claudia Wolf

There's no antagonist more terrifying and iconic as Claudia Wolf from Silent Hill 3. Her insiduous plans of birthing a new god and drowning the world in hellfire in order to build a brand new paradise from nothing showcase her unhinged state of mind and the sheer craziness that she exhumes. It's easy to hate her, but also hard not to love just how evil she is.

Lady Avianna wanted to capture Claudia's essence through this hauntingly beautiful cosplay, which looks an awful lot like the game itself. Her iconic white hair and long dark dress easily send us right back into the story of Silent Hill 3.

7 Pyramid Head

There's no enemy quite like the Pyramid Head. He's the bogeyman, the unbeatable monster that will hunt you down and kill you almost instantly should you give him a chance. He's a staple in the franchise, and a huge fan favorite due to his mysterious and ambiguous character.

While the Pyramid Head has always been portrayed as a man, cosplayer Darrowsarif decided to change things up. She created a genderbent version of Silent's Hill most beloved monster, and we have to say it looks absolutely terrifying, from the head down to his massive Great Knife.

6 Heather Mason

Heather Mason is a very special child, as she was adopted by Harry Mason and believed to be an incarnation of Alessa Gillespie's evil. Hunted down by the Order in her youth, she seeks revenge in Silent Hill 3 to put an end to the Order's God that Claudia and the others worship relentlessly. Through her story, she's become no doubt one of the most popular characters in the series.

Cosplayer Milkjamjuice is definitely the ideal pick when it comes to real life Heather look-alikes. She fully encompasses everything that Heather is in her amazing cosplay, with all the details from her bloodied vest to her wrist warmers.

5 Alessa Gillespie

Alessa Gillespie is another famous character in the series, most notable for her well-known blue dress and long black hair. Seen also in the Silent Hill movie, Alessa's childhood was an extremely rough one, as the Order tortured her in hopes of seeing the rebirth of God through her. She later reincarnates in the form of Heather Mason.

Cosplayer PsychoHiko brought the frightening and tortured child that is Alessa alive with her amazingly detailed cosplay. Her sunken yes and tattered dress all fit the set which looks like something out of Alessa's nightmare world, which is seen in the games as well.

4 Lisa Garland

Lisa Garland is a devoted nurse who also plays a central role in the original story of Silent Hill. She's the one who watched over Alessa's burned body for years, doing her best in nursing the young girl in order to keep her alive. However, she also suffers from a drug addiction, through which she was blackmailed to keep on caring for Alessa.

Supervisor Cosplay decided to embody Lisa for this beautiful cosplay, in which she appears to be changing another set of dirty bandages. From her strawberry blonde hair down to the red cardigan and nurse's outfit, this cosplay looks exactly like the Lisa we know from the games.

3 James Sunderland

The story of Silent Hill 2 is considered among the most popular ones due to its highly dark and introspective undertones. It introduces us to James Sunderland, who arrives to Silent Hill after receiving a call from his that has gone missing wife, asking for him to meet her at their usual spot. As he works his way through the misty city, something terrible is revealed that changes him forever.

Cosplayer NipahDUBS truly becomes James Sunderland's brooding character in this photo. Not only does the room around him look like some of the apartments we travel through in Silent Hill 2, but his outfit and the pole he has are precise copies of the in-game ones.

2 Maria

Silent Hill 2 has a quite a few highly tortured characters that James chases after, all trapped in the town due to their own insecurities and dark secrets. Maria is an odd one, a feminine look alike of James' wife Mary. Dressed in much more revealing clothes and with a flirty personality, he tags along with James halfway through his adventure, but holds a secret deeper than you can imagine.

Cosplayer Maria Hanna stepped into the boots of Maria in a fantastic photoshoot that looks just like the game itself. The most incredible detail is how close to the in-game version her mini skirt is, not to mention her blonde bobcut that gives her the iconic look of Maria herself.

1 Bubble Head Nurse

Perhaps the most popular of all characters found in Silent Hill is a monster that just keeps on coming back over and over again. Any true fan of the franchise will recognize the Bubble Head Nurse, the monster that looks like a nurse but whose face has been permanently deformed into a bulbous, fleshy mess of sorts.

Aja Doll Cosplay went full on with her nurse costume, and didn't spare us from any details. Her photoshoot may have well been a set of photos taken from a trailer for an upcoming Silent Hill game, that's just how good her look is and how terrifying these pictures are.
